Berggren, Lynn and Duggan
Peggy Lynn, Dan Berggren, and Dan Duggan are three seasoned solo performers who have released over twenty albums. With their traditional folk roots and original songs, they’re teamed up as a trio with unique arrangements and striking harmonies. In addition to a trio album called Ten Miles to Saturday Night, Berggren and Lynn have collaborated on the album Cloudsplitter, Duggan and Lynn have one called Stitch in Time that features songs of quilting, and Berggren and Duggan released Rooted in the Mountains.
Dan Berggren , a retired SUNY Fredonia professor, plays guitar and banjo, sings, and is an award-winning songwriter and teacher. While recordings of his music have crossed the country on public TV and radio, Dan has performed in Belgium, Bulgaria, the British Isles, Central Africa and most recently, on a three-week tour of Romania. His rich baritone is the perfect complement to Peggy’s expressive vocals.
Peggy Lynn, known as the voice of the Adirondack mountains, writes songs about the women and the natural beauty of the north country and is recognized nationwide for her extraordinary vocal versatility. She is also co-author with Sandra Weber of the book Breaking Trail: Remarkable Women of the Adirondacks. Because of her work teaching children about the environment and writing about the region’s many colorful women, she was selected 1996 Adirondack Woman of the Year. Earlier this year, Lynn and Berggren each received the Adirondack Mountain Club’s Education Award.
Dan Duggan is known from Maine to California for his wizardry on hammered dulcimer and flat-picking guitar, for dulcimer workshops, square dance calling, and as recipient of the National Hammered Dulcimer Championship. In fact, Paul Simon asked him to play on his recent album, ”You’re the One.” Dan’s original tunes range from graceful waltzes to intense foot stompers, and have been published in the collection, “Coming Home.” Most recently, Dan has released an album of his original airs and waltzes called “Once in a Blue Moon.”
The musical fun that Peggy and the Dans have on stage is genuine and contagious. They present a diverse blend of blues and folk, ballads and dance tunes. As a trio they’ve found a chemistry rarely seen in traditional music circles.
